Location: New York
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade – Communications and Cultural Affairs Officer – PN 10268 – LE5 Contract Details
Non‑ongoing, full‑time, two‑year fixed‑term contract in New York City, USA.
OverviewSupports the Australian Government's diplomatic and public diplomacy objectives in New York and the Northeastern United States. Leads the design, delivery and communication of cultural programmes and events, and manages the Consulate‑General’s broader social media strategy.
Responsibilities- Lead the design, delivery and communication of a range of cultural programmes and events.
- Manage the Consulate‑General’s cultural and media relationships with stakeholders across the USA and Australia.
- Develop and execute a social media strategy supporting cultural affairs.
- Engage with First Nations communities in programme planning and execution.
- Coordinate with Consulate‑General staff to align initiatives with diplomatic objectives.
- Perform tasks that may require irregular hours and working outside standard business hours.
- US citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
- Holder of an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) permitting employment outside the sponsoring organisation.
- Holder of an A2 visa, an A visa, a derivative A visa, or a G visa (or derivative G visa) with appropriate household status.
- Eligibility to apply for or currently hold the above visas, as per US immigration regulations.
USD $102,809 – $113,484. New starters commence at the base of the salary range.
Benefits- Employer‑subsidised medical group insurance (employees pay 6–16%).
- 22 days annual leave per year.
- 18 days sick leave per year.
- 14 public holidays per year.
Eligible staff who have been employed for at least 100 working days and meet performance standards are eligible for salary advancement or bonus.
