Position OverviewThe Manager, Government Relations, 4
As reports to the 4
As EVP, Government Relations and is based in Washington, DC. The Manager represents the 4
As and its subsidiary CHC to Congress, federal regulatory agencies, and the 50 state governments, advocating for advertising and healthcare marketing interests.
The role includes management of public policy and industry advocacy on tax, labor, privacy, healthcare marketing, pharmaceutical marketing, AI, intellectual property, and free speech issues. It also coordinates efforts with peer organizations such as ANA, DAA, AAF, FDA, and others, and interacts with 4
As regional boards, councils, and industry coalitions.
- Develop and implement advocacy programs on federal and state policy issues affecting advertising and healthcare marketing.
- Communicate updates to laws and regulations to 4
As and CHC members. - Engage regularly with Congress, committees, regulatory agencies, and advisors on relevant issues.
- Track state‑level issues and assist outreach to governors, legislators, and attorneys general.
- Advise the membership services team and coordinate with regional 4A SVPs on new developments.
- Respond to member inquiries as needed.
- Organize grassroots campaigns among local member communities.
- Participate in industry standards and self‑regulatory bodies.

As staff to plan events such as DC fly‑ins, member meetings, or board events. - Write policy guidance and position papers on industry‑relevant topics.
- Create and publish government relations content for the 4
As website and newsletters. - Update website content, including policy‑related blog posts and landing pages.
- Provide project‑management support to keep government‑relations projects on track.
- General familiarity with the advertising industry (preferred but not required).
- Experience with Congressional committees such as House Ways and Means, Senate Finance, etc. (preferred).
- Experience with the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Health and Human Services, and FDA (preferred).
- Strategic thinker, self‑starter, able to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong writing and communication skills, able to synthesize complex information.
- Ability to pivot priorities quickly and meet deadlines.
- Experience with membership organizations or similar structures.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and projects.
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Word Press, Zoom, Asana, and Salesforce (bonus).
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Great team with strong mission and energy.
- Summer Fridays.
- Week off between Christmas & New Year holidays.
