City Tourism Department Emergency Appointment Opportunity Management Analyst
The City Tourism Department (CTD) is seeking qualified candidates to fill one Management Analyst vacancy in the Department. The position will report to a Senior Management Analyst II and will perform the work described below. The office is located at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and a parking pass for the Convention Center garage will be provided at no cost. There is an option of a 9/80 or 5/40 schedule.
Dutiesfor the Position
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assists in resolving departmental administrative problems by collecting and interpreting data, determining alternative solutions, and recommending a course of action.
- Reviews, analyzes, and prepares recommendations relating to proposed legislation.
- Assists in the development and management of personal services contracts, including but not limited to the contracts with the Legends Global Management LACC, LLC, and the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (LATCB).
- Works closely with City Tourism Department (CTD) Executives and outside organizations and assists with research, analysis, writing, and editing associated with annual reports.
- Prepares presentations, graphs, graphics and other visual for Board meetings, business speaking engagements and other events.
- Assists with archiving articles and monitoring media mentions of the Department, noteworthy projects, the Los Angeles Convention Center, and tourism.
- Assists in preparing, reviewing, analyzing and editing departmental budget requests.
- Assists in maintaining periodic analyses of accounting, fiscal and performance metrics data.
- Assists in procuring supplies, materials, and equipment for an operating department, payroll, and other accounting tasks.
- Oversees content, maintenance and optimization of the CTD website and the department’s public-facing digital content, including compliance with federal accessibility requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
(Applicants must have filed for the current Management Analyst exam to be considered for this emergency appointment)
- One year of full‑time paid professional experience as a Management Assistant or in a class which is at that level performing duties in budgetary and grants analysis and control, legislative analysis, administrative analysis and research, systems and procedures analysis, departmental administration, personnel administration or accounting; or
- Two years of full‑time paid experience as a Management Aide with the City of Los Angeles; or
- One year of full‑time paid experience with the City of Los Angeles as a Chief Clerk or in a clerical class at that level; or
- Three years of full‑time paid experience with the City of Los Angeles as an Executive Administrative Assistant or in a clerical class at that level

It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year. (City Charter Section 1013).
