The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement (OME) strategizes, coordinates, and executes engagement that reaches everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring the government serves the people of this great city.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
- Maintain key relationships and track high-level issues in the borough.
- Work with other staff to identify and maintain organizing opportunities in the borough.
- Manage a team building layers of engagement throughout the borough.
- Attend relevant civic, community board, and community meetings.
- Ensure follow‑up on constituent cases when relevant.
- Represent the Mayor’s Office in emergency situations such as blackouts, tragic deaths, high‑profile crimes, fires, water main breaks, or street collapses where people are evacuated.
- Coordinate with citywide liaisons to move Office of Mass Engagement initiatives forward with the borough team of organizers and specialists.
- Provide additional support as necessary.

- You have deep knowledge of the Bronx.

Title:
Special Assistant (MA)-MGRL - 0668A
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3+ years of experience.
- Ability to build and maintain a wide array of working relationships.
- Excellent management skills.
- Calm under pressure, including at public events or emergencies.
- Excellent eye for identifying and developing leadership.

Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City Employees who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. Please discuss the residency requirement with the agency representative at interview.
