Responsibilities
  • Assist the public with zoning, shoreland, floodplain, subdivision, and sanitary permitting questions.
  • Review and process permit applications and maintain accurate records.
  • Support conservation, planning, and environmental programs through data management and mapping.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, meeting materials, and public communications.
  • Assist with GIS mapping and spatial data management.
  • Participate in field inspections, site reviews, and ordinance compliance activities.
  • Support financial, administrative, and customer-service functions within the department.
  • Collaborate with landowners, contractors, consultants, and government partners to ensure compliance with county regulations.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in environmental studies, planning, geography, natural resources, GIS, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in planning, zoning, environmental services, natural resources, GIS, permitting, surveying, land records, or related work.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to balance office responsibilities with occasional fieldwork.
  • Interest in environmental protection, land-use planning, and public service.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
