APPRENTICE INSPECTOR (HIGHWAYS - 35007)
Conduct pre‑inspections to determine required service levels for particular highway structures. Coordinate and conduct pre and post inspections of Adopt‑A‑Highway sites, provide written reports, digital photos, and recommendations to the Director as needed. Review field inspections to determine if all criteria for adoption of a highway are met. Assist in permit coordination based on logistical data observed in the field. Assist in coordination of supplies and storage, including delivery of supplies to volunteer groups, creation of receipts, and tracking inventory.
Review and process Adopt‑A‑Highway applications/contracts. Coordinate and conduct highway site inspections to determine if required service levels are adequate or completed as scheduled. Create weekly written summary reports of inspections and notifications to be reviewed by Director. Assist with the maintenance of the unit's vehicles, scheduling and delivering vehicles for preventative maintenance appointments, repairs, and car washes.
Must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York and maintain it for the duration of employment.
Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
