APPRENTICE INSPECTOR (HIGHWAYS - 35007

Conduct pre-inspections to determine required service levels for particular highway structures. Coordinate and conduct pre and post inspections of Adopt-A-Highway sites, provide written reports, digital photos, also provide recommendations to the Director as needed. Conduct reviews of field inspection to determine if all criteria for adoption of a highway are met. Assist in permit coordination based on the logistical data observed in the field.

Assist with the coordination of supplies and storage, including the delivery of supplies to volunteer groups, creation of receipts and tracking inventory. Review and process Adopt-A-Highway applications/contracts. Coordinate and conduct highway site inspections, determine if required service levels are adequate, and/or completed as scheduled. Create weekly written summary reports of inspections and notifications to be reviewed by the Director. Assist with the maintenance of the unit’s vehicles such as scheduling and delivering vehicles for preventative maintenance appointments, repairs, and car washes.

• Must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
