Join the Port Authority’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) as an intern with the Vendor Integrity team where your work will directly support efforts to safeguard one of the region’s most vital agencies from fraud, waste, and abuse. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on investigative experience by conducting background checks and integrity screenings on companies seeking to work with the agency.
Positioned within a highly specialized investigative team, you’ll play a key role in supporting the OIG’s mission to uphold transparency and accountability. Interns will develop valuable analytical, research, and reporting skills while exploring careers in criminal justice, public policy, and audit. This is an ideal role for students interested in making a real impact through public service and investigative work.
- Under thesupervisionof the Investigative Manager, conductcomprehensivevendor integrity checks on entities seeking to perform work on Port Authority projects.
- Conduct database searches of companies and key individuals within those companies and report their finding sin adefinedreporting format.
- Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
- Major in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoftapplicationsconsisting of Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
- Analytical ability
- Interest in criminal justice policy, audit and/or investigation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize and triage their case work
- Ability to meet critical deadlines
- This internship is expected to start inJune 2026 with an enddate that will be determined after the internship starts.
- This internship will requirea minimum of 29 hours per week.
- Candidates must beavailableto workduringcore hoursof
10:00 am to 3:00 pm. - In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.
