- Manage multi-family affordable housing projects caseload, tracking development timetables and deadlines for each assigned project.
- Act as a proactive intermediary and problem solver between the project developer's team and HCR technical staff to advance project development.
- Facilitate communication with other governmental agencies, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate project financing and operating budgets (underwriting) of multi-family affordable housing projects in accordance with financing source requirements and agency policy.
- Review and evaluate applications for funding, providing analyses and recommendations of proposed projects.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on project status as requested by supervisors and agency senior staff.
- Perform site visits for proposed projects and for projects currently under construction, if necessary.
- Alert supervisors in a timely manner of any existing or potential project issues such as potential delays, non-compliance, cost increases, etc.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS) allows non-competitive appointment. All candidates must meet minimum qualifications for the title for which they apply.
Acquisition of non-competitive status is expected to be converted to competitive status in the future without examination. Employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Non-CompetitiveMinimum Qualifications
Four years of experience analyzing data related to the development and implementation of policies associated with various housing programs; providing guidance to the public including builders, sponsors, community organizations, local officials, landlords and tenants; or performing inspections or monitoring housing projects.
An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
CompetitiveMinimum Qualifications
Must be reachable on the New York State Civil Service eligible list.
Transfer QualificationsOne year of permanent or contingent permanent service in an eligible title for transfer determined to be similar by Civil Service.
