Location: New York

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) seeks a full-time Community Coordinator in the Bureau of Fire Prevention. Under the supervision of the Administrative Manager, performs community engagement, coordination, and operational support functions for the Shelter Task Force (3/4 Housing Task Force) and High-Rise Operation Units. Responsibilities include conducting and documenting shelter assessments; coordinating with shelter providers, government agencies, and community stakeholders;

monitoring shelter conditions and compliance with applicable requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
  • PREFERRED SKILLS
    • Knowledge of Accela and maintaining electronic records - Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Experience maintaining records and working with databases and tracking systems.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.
    • Ability to accurately enter, review, and maintain data with a high level of attention to detail.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with the public, staff, and Partner agencies
      - Experience scheduling appointments, coordinating activities, and managing multiple priorities.
    • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
