Indoor Air Quality Oversight Team (IAQOT) Specialist

reporting directly to the environmental hazards unit senior administrator, the environmental hazards specialist plays a critical role in the eh&s department: overseeing nycha 's staff and vendors, to ensure adherence to regulations governing the verification, remediation, and abatement of pollutants that affect nycha’s environment such as mold, asbestos, lead, pests, general air quality, and water quality such as legionella, potable water, stormwater and sewage water.

• conduct field oversight of nycha and vendor(s) personnel conducting inspection, remediation, and abatement of environmental hazards to evaluate the efficacy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• prepare detailed reports outlining the findings of the field oversight which highlight the extent to which activities are being conducted in compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices, flagging potential gaps or risks for health hazards.
• liaise with respective nycha staff and business unit leadership to perform in-depth oversight efforts through document reviews and interviews.
• respond to and investigate complaints regarding environmental hazards and assist in the development of environmental hazards management plans.
• conduct walk-through inspections of locations to identify indicators of environmental hazards.
• conduct training for nycha staff and vendors pertaining to environmental hazards.
• conduct desk monitoring and review of regulatory filings associated with environmental hazards activities to evaluate compliance with policy and performance standards.
• collaborate with business units to recommend required process improvements to ensure the safety of nycha's residents and employees.
