NYC Fleet manages all NYC vehicles, equipment, fuel, leasing, and related services. The City’s fleet includes over 28,500 vehicles, costs over $1 billion annually, and involves nearly 1,800 full time staff. NYC implements nation leading programs in sustainability, including electric cars and biofuels, as well as in fleet safety, shared services, telematics, and fleet efficiency.

The Fleet Auction Coordinator reports to the Director of Auction. Tasks including, but not limited to vehicle appraisal, estimating minimum bid pricing using software and online resources, reviewing sales prices for approvals, downloading and maintaining all documents involved in fleet vehicle sales, performing onsite inspection at vendor yards and various agency locations, conducting minor vehicle troubleshooting, coordination of keys, vendor management, conducting vehicle buyer transactions, resolving sale issues with customers and agencies, assisting with emergency, as well as assisting other DCAS Fleet units as needed.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Upon completion of each week’s list of vehicles to be auctioned, physically send the title to the vendor via overnight shipping.
  • Respond to customer service requests from agencies on the status of vehicle relinquishments, pickups, etc.
  • Review and update each record in M5 to be sure each vehicle portfolio is complete before it goes on sale.
  • Track and assist with all transfers of vehicles within the NYC fleet – these are changes of ownership between agencies.
  • Process all duplicate title requests and advise the Director on the process and status of each request.
  • Coordinate requests with NYS DMV.
  • Assist with the new non-official license plate process with the State DMV and City Hall.
  • Serve as a notary for Fleet LOS.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
