The Team You’ll Work WithThe Office of the Chief of Staff to the Mayor is responsible for the full suite of citywide and agency administrative operations to include scheduling and preparing the Mayor for his daily briefings, meetings, and events. The team led by the Mayor’s Chief of Staff coordinates the operations of the Office of International Affairs, the Office of Operations, the Office of Special Projects and Community Events, the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management, Gracie Mansion, and the Office of Correspondence, the Office of Mass Engagement, the Office of Emerging Markets, and the Office of Sports, Wellness, and Recreation.
PolicyAnalyst Overview
The Policy Analyst will work within the Policy and Planning team, which focuses on the development, vetting, announcement, and implementation of policy, budgetary, and long‑term planning matters across all policy topics. This team works closely with the Office of Operations and Intergovernmental Affairs, amongst other Mayor’s Office teams.
Problems You’ll SolveThe Policy Analyst is a key member of the Office of the Chief of Staff who supports the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Mayor and the Policy and Planning team in ensuring strategic, operational, and political alignment across City Hall and the administration.
Responsibilities- Develop and refine briefings and memos for Executive decision‑making & high‑level policy making by gathering relevant information and data from senior City Hall staff and agency leadership.
- Assist in the development, tracking, and advancement of processes to facilitate Executive decision‑making.
- Provide project management support on inter‑agency policy topics.
- Assist with coordination of internal operations & cross‑issue workflows within the Office of the Chief of Staff.
- Support the public‑facing rollout and announcement of key Mayoral policy priorities.
- Assist with coordination, as needed, between the Office of the Chief of Staff and Intergovernmental Affairs, City Legislative Affairs, State Legislative Affairs, and Federal Legislative Affairs to develop legislative solutions to policy challenges.
- Support inter‑agency coordination and cross‑City Hall team collaboration to ensure project and program delivery.
- You have an interest in and curiosity about policy issues related to the City of New York and the provision of services across its five boroughs.
- You pay attention to detail and have excellent organization and time‑management skills, including the ability to deliver on multiple, competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of the interview.
