POSITION

OVERVIEW

The Government Grants Manager will lead the organization’s government grants portfolio, overseeing the full grant lifecycle from prospect identification and application development through award management, reporting, compliance, and closeout. The ideal candidate has strong experience working with New York City, New York State, and federal government funding sources, and is highly proficient in the online portals, grant-management systems, and CRM platforms used to administer public funding.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong project management skills, excellent writing and communication abilities, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while ensuring compliance with government requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Government Grants Management
  • Manage the full lifecycle of government grants, including research, prospecting, applications, contracts, budgets, amendments, reporting, renewals, and closeout.
  • Monitor funding opportunities from New York City, New York State, and federal agencies and assess alignment with URI’s programs and priorities.
  • Maintain accurate grant calendars, submission schedules, reporting deadlines, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with program, finance, and leadership teams to develop competitive proposals, accurate budgets, work plans, and supporting documentation.
  • With the Finance team, track awards and expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets, funding restrictions, and grant terms.
  • Identify potential compliance issues and work with internal stakeholders to resolve them promptly.
  • Serve as an internal expert on government grant submission and management portals, including relevant NYC, New York State, and federal systems.
  • Navigate and maintain organizational information, applications, award records, reports, and supporting documentation across multiple government platforms.
  • Maintain accurate and timely grant records in the organization’s CRM and grant-management systems.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking applications, awards, contacts, deadlines, deliverables, reporting requirements, and funding history.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of grant data across government portals, CRM platforms, financial systems, and internal tracking tools.
Proposal Development & Reporting
  • Write, edit, and coordinate government grant applications, renewal proposals, progress reports, and final reports.
  • Gather program outcomes, performance data, financial information, and supporting materials from internal departments.
  • Translate program activities and outcomes into clear, compelling narratives that meet government funder requirements.
  • Ensure all submissions are complete, accurate, compliant, and submitted by required deadlines.
  • Maintain organized electronic grant files and documentation for audits and internal review.
Relationship & Compliance Management
  • Develop professional relationships with government agency representatives and funding officers as appropriate.
  • Monitor changes in government funding requirements, regulations, application procedures, and reporting standards.
