TLC is the agency responsible for regulating New York City's taxicab and for-hire vehicle industry. With approximately 180,000 licensed drivers, 1,000 businesses, 115,000 vehicles including and the iconic yellow taxi at the heart of our city's identity, TLC is entering a new era of dignity, accountability, and collaboration across the for hire vehicle sector.

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the agency responsible for regulating New York City's taxicab and for-hire vehicle industry. TLC licenses and regulates over 130,000 vehicles and more than 175,000 drivers, making it the most active taxi and limousine regulatory agency in the United States. Aside from vehicles and drivers, TLC also regulates taxicab agents and for-hire vehicle bases, including popular app-based transportation services.

The TLC plays a pivotal role in furthering public safety within New York City and is a lead agency in a citywide effort to reduce traffic-related injuries. One of the largest components of TLC's operations is the enforcement of agency and administrative code regulations.

Under the supervision of experienced attorneys, assist in the management of caseloads for agency administrative hearings including preparing and presenting witnesses and evidence at trials; review and evaluate cases to effectively negotiate plea and settlement agreements with respondents and legal representatives; interview consumer complainants to obtain details and to determine appropriate charging violations and settlement offers; review dispositions for summonses dismissed at OATH;

draft appeals, legal memos, and advisory opinions; make determinations based on legal research; and provide legal support as needed.

New Hire Rate: $72,510

After two (2) years of city employment: $83,388

Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.
