Major Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform complex support work for NYC Parks’ Capital Projects division.
- Maintain Deputy Commissioner’s extremely demanding schedule by proactively managing the calendar, initiating meetings with Parks’ staff, Agency leadership and community partners, while preparing all necessary materials for those meetings.
- Stay informed of division priorities and projects to inform briefing materials, slide decks, Excel spreadsheets, and agendas in anticipation of meetings and hearings with elected officials.
- Represent the division at meetings with other divisions, agencies and partners as needed.
- Assist in gathering information and preparing correspondence for the Deputy Commissioner.
- Assist in the preparation of responses to inquiries/requests from other Parks units including Correspondence, Communications, Citywide Legislative Affairs and Partnerships for Parks.
- Facilitate approvals and coordination of capital projects with the School Construction Authority (SCA).
- Work with other Parks offices to coordinate large meetings with various community groups.

Fees:
Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee between $40.00 to $101.00 based on the salary range of title. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $104.50 background check fee.

Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- Excellent writing, supervisory, administrative and interpersonal skills.
2. Experience coordinating and preparing high-level briefings and reports.
3. Familiarity with New York City design and construction process.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
5. Valid New York State driver license.
Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
