duties description
the arts program associate specializing in grants management and compliance will perform agency grants administration compliance support as part of the agency operations team. This is a unique opportunity to hold a key role on the staff of new york state council on the arts (nysca), an executive agency of new york state.

This is a unique opportunity to hold a key role on the staff of new york state council on the arts (nysca), an executive agency of new york state.
duties include, but are not limited to- support the grants management and compliance function of the agency in the workflow and administration of processes applicable to nysca grant applicants and grantees, including fiscal review, contracting, payments, reports, vendor responsibility, prequalification and grants reconciliation.
- support the agency's internal control program, including annual certification activities and documentation of corrective actions, and assist in responding to audit and information requests from the office of the state comptroller and other oversight bodies.
- assist senior grants administration staff on agency policy and projects relating to grants management and compliance and agency communications to applicants and grantees across all agency grant programs and categories.
- access, and support the leadership and administrative role with respect to nysca's use of the relevant cloud-based portals utilized for finance and compliance matters, including the state financial system, the osc vendor responsibility portal, the nysca application and reporting portals.
- increase knowledge on an ongoing basis of not-for-profit corporation fiscal requirements under applicable not-for-profit corporation laws, as well as best practices, and access and analyze public information, including from irs form 990, new york state charities bureau filings and other public databases.
- prioritize among requests and other duties as needed in consultation with executive staff.
- supervise or coordinate with temporary or arts team associates for specific projects.
- assist with special assignments and projects.
the mission of the new york state council on the arts is to foster and advance the full breadth of new york state’s arts, culture, and creativity for all. To support the ongoing recovery of the arts across new york state, the council on the arts will award $161 million in fy 2027. The council on the arts further advances new york's creative culture by convening leaders in the field and providing organizational and professional development opportunities and informational resources.

- seven years of specialized experience, one of which must have been at a supervisory level, involving arts and/or cultural programs, activities, or initiatives gained in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, nonprofit or commercial organizations; government and quasi-governmental entities; arts programs or components within non-arts entities (such as the arts program of an educational institution, communications organization, corporate entity, or philanthropic organization);
