Hair stylist

This position provides haircut service to incoming customers. Also, this position is required to perform certain daily operational duties of hair salon.

Haircut

• Greets customers, explains systems.
• Provides hair style counseling.
• Prepares hair for styling by analyzing hair condition.
• Plans desired effect by studying facial features; examining potential styles; conferring with customer.
• Produces desired effect by arranging, shaping, cutting, trimming, and setting.
• Cleans haircut booth after performing haircut of each customer.
• Collects haircut charges from customer.
• Handles customer claims as necessary.

Hair Salon Operation

• Cleans haircut booths at the start of operation and at the end of operation each day.
• Checks and refills supplies. Order supplies if necessary.
• Develops daily sales reports.
• May perform daily sales closing and cash deposition.

Other Job Duties

• Maintains high ethical standards in the work place.
• Reports all irregular issues and problems to management and works to resolve those issues.
• Maintains safe and healthy conditions by following organization standards and legal regulation.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION

• One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

• Between 5 to 10 years’ experience as hair stylist.

LICENSE
Incumbent must have updated state required hair stylist license. (e.g. NY license for Cosmetology)

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT

• General office equipment including phones, fax, copier, scanner, personal computer, calculator, etc.
• Haircutting tools

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL

• Work Environment – Work is performed in an office environment with small noise level.
• Lifting – Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move more than 10 pounds.
• Eyesight/Vision – Requires vision abilities such as close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Physical - Employee is required to frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms.
