Overview
The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations, assists the Radiologist, and ensures the safe operation and maintenance of ultrasound equipment. This role requires strong technical skills, clinical judgment, and patient-focused care.
Responsibilities- Prepare and examine patients for ultrasound procedures, verifying patient identity and clinical history
- Confirm exam appropriateness and notify the physician of any contraindications
- Operate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment, reporting malfunctions as needed
- Explain procedures and provide instructions to patients and healthcare staff
- Modify procedure plans using professional judgment to optimize exam quality
- Perform ultrasound exams under physician supervision, adjusting techniques for optimal imaging
- Analyze sonographic findings and obtain comprehensive diagnostic exams
- Perform required measurements and calculations per lab and ACR protocols
- Minimize patient exposure to acoustic energy while maintaining image quality
- Notify appropriate providers when urgent medical attention is required
- Record diagnostic images and data for interpretation and archiving
- Provide preliminary findings to the radiologist as appropriate
- Maintain adequate supplies and a clean, safe work environment
- Assist with orientation and mentoring of new ultrasound staff
- Perform scheduling, coordination, and other duties as assigned
- Minimum 2 years of Ultrasound Technologist experience
- ARDMS registration required
- Breast ultrasound experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism
- Local Pay: $58/hour
- Traveler Pay: $2,300/week (approx. $65.71/hour blended rate)
