We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Sr EKG Tech. The successful candidate is responsible for performing electrocardiograms on in-patients and out-patients utilizing appropriate recording machines, including Holter monitoring, scanning duties, and interpretation of arrhythmias from scanner.

• Prepares patients for testing.
• Gathers and sets up equipment and supplies according to departmental procedures.
• Calibrates and warms up equipment prior to procedures to ensure proper functioning.
• Identifies patients and verifies identity by checking the patient’s ; explains the procedure and equipment.
• Ensures patient privacy and prepares the patient using proper criteria and technique for best quality recording.
• Schedules patients if necessary and notifies floor for Holter removals and applications.
• Provides training and technical guidance to new and current personnel; orients staff to new procedures and changes.
• Remains available during duty hours to provide technical advice or assistance to junior personnel.
• Maintains scanning documentation according to departmental procedures.
• Prepares reports with representative documentation of ECG abnormalities using standard nomenclature.
• Reports significant findings to physicians and documents in a timely manner.
• Differentiates between normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms and interprets a wide range of arrhythmias.
• Performs Holter monitoring scanning and demonstrates familiarity with Holter recorders and playback systems.
• Recognizes possible malfunctions of various artificial pacemakers and maintains equipment in proper functioning order.
• Uses high-speed scanning techniques and correlates ECG changes with time, symptoms, and activities using patient diaries.
• Selects ECG strips that document abnormalities and ensures correlation with patient-reported symptoms.
• Maintains equipment, cleans and prepares for patient application, and sterilizes as required.
• Performs preventative maintenance to ensure equipment efficiency.
• Documents the electrocardiogram according to departmental procedures, including patient identification and timing.
• Communicates findings to the appropriate staff and ensures timely documentation.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of the electrocardiogram and arrhythmias in order to alert the appropriate staff.
• Removes electrodes and jelly, assists patients with gowns, and administers tests by operating the electrocardiogram to record and label leads.
• Operates equipment to monitor procedures and makes adjustments to achieve quality diagnostic results.
• Assesses ECGs against standards and prior tracings to monitor changes and alert staff of abnormalities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or the equivalent.
• Certificate of completion from a licensed EKG school required.
• Minimum three years of experience as an EKG Technician in an acute care facility.
• Good communication skills.

Some college preferred.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
