Patient Service Representative

Position summary

We are currently hiring a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our Adult Medicine at El Nuevo San Juan (ENSJ) in the Bronx. The Patient Service Representative provides information, support, encouragement, and assistance to patients as they arrive at the health care facility. This role greets and registers patients and visitors, verifies and records patient information, and provides comfort and empathy to patients while maintaining the waiting room.

This role provides accurate and consistent information to patients, schedules appointments, and resolves patient concerns.

• High School Diploma required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with clerical/administrative functions is required, ideally in a health care setting.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Must have excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional experience to patients.
• Understanding of phone etiquette and standard office procedures.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player

• Greeting patients and identifying their needs.
• Verifies insurance information through managed care website.
• Answers incoming calls and takes messages for providers.
• Register patients, checks demographics, assign PCP (when applicable), check, updates information as needed.
• Schedules appointment and reschedules no shows appointments and recalls patients for required services.
• Helps to maintain charts and provide administrative support to the department.

$19.50 per hour based on 40 hours per week ($40,560 annualized).

Candidates must be available to work onsite based in our Southern Boulevard Health Center. Candidates must have availability to work Tuesday through Saturday 8am-5pm/9am-6pm OR Monday through Friday 8am-5pm/9am-6pm with rotating Saturdays (and day off during week).
