Position SummaryAn exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Laboratory Coordinator II to join a dynamic Fertility Center team. This role is responsible for clinical laboratory operations including specimen processing, diagnostic testing, cryopreservation, quality control, and ensuring the laboratory remains inspection-ready and compliant with regulatory standards.
This position requires strong technical expertise in endocrinology and andrology procedures, strict adherence to laboratory protocols, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Rotating weekend and holiday coverage is required.
Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory procedures to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely results
- Conduct hormone assays and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly quality controls
- Process and evaluate clinical specimens in accordance with laboratory SOPs
- Perform sperm preparation for insemination and ICSI (upon training and authorization)
- Conduct sperm cryopreservation, storage management, and thawing procedures
- Prepare and cryopreserve TESE specimens; coordinate scheduling with referring physicians
- Perform diagnostic semen analyses
- Prepare media and maintain sterile laboratory technique
- Record, analyze, and report laboratory results accurately
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure inspection readiness
- Order laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laboratory regulations
- Support quality control, quality assurance, and laboratory safety initiatives
- Assist with maintaining current permits and regulatory documentation
- Perform related duties as assigned
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State
- Strong knowledge of quality control and quality assurance standards
- Experience in a fertility clinic or reproductive laboratory
- Familiarity with Beckman Coulter Access II and Uni Cel DxI 600 systems
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful
- Strong computer proficiency
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Clinical laboratory setting
- Exposure to laboratory specimens and potential biohazards
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
- Interaction with patients and human research materials
