Job Details

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR tech) for a 14-week travel assignment in New York, New York. The role offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive clinical team.

Required Qualifications
  • One year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • Valid ARRT, or RCIS/RCES Certification in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance within state regulations
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
Summary

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using imaging technology. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, operating fluoroscopy and other imaging modalities, and ensuring high standards of patient care and safety. The IR Technologist works with the interventional radiologist and healthcare team to support vascular and non-vascular procedures in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Essential Work Functions
  • Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guide procedures
  • Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterile procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
  • Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self
  • Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures
  • Manage and restock procedural supplies, including catheters, guide wires, and contrast agents
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
  • Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions; proficiency in PC skills
Physical/Mental/Sensory Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel to maintain professionalism
  • Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure; may work under close supervision occasionally
  • Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and maintain concentration
  • Must possess visual acuity and the ability to communicate effectively
