Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Embryologist II – Manhattan, OB/GYN IVF. Embryologist II is a mid-level position. This position performs basic clinical laboratory techniques independently under supervision of laboratory leadership and at the direction of Senior Embryologists. Additionally, this position assists senior staff with advanced clinical laboratory techniques and duties. Detail oriented data entry and functionality with laboratory software is required.
This position includes holiday and weekend rotations. Team oriented workflow. Also interfaces with the research and ancillary components of the program.
- Laboratory cleaning and monitoring
- Receipt and testing of media and supplies
- Preparation and labeling of media and tissue culture materials and dishes
- Equipment maintenance and quality control
- Sperm preparation for ART
- Sperm cryopreservation (if applicable) and thaw
- Oocyte retrieval and preparation for culture and insemination
- Conventional IVF (in vitro fertilization) insemination
- Fertilization assessment
- Embryo handling, culture, and grading
- Embryo vitrification and warming
- Laser assisted hatching
- Handling of liquid nitrogen, cryopreserved specimens and maintenance and monitoring of cryo‑storage tanks
- Fresh specimen discard
- Participation in cryopreserved specimen discard with laboratory leadership as necessary
- Receipt and release of cryopreserved specimens as necessary
- Embryo transfer
- Oocyte vitrification
- Intra‑cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
- Participate in laboratory efforts to research and improve the quality of laboratory services
Provide a high level of patient care and service. Attend practice and department meetings. Learn and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, society meetings, reviewing publications, and establishing personal networks. Document all continuing education activities.
Additional Position Specific ResponsibilitiesFollow Lab protocols. Adhere to NYUL P and P.
