We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Respite Worker to provide in-home support services under the New York State Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) program. This role is essential in offering temporary relief to primary caregivers by assisting individuals with disabilities or chronic health conditions in their daily activities, promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care and supervision to individuals receiving HCBS services in their homes or community settings.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility support.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment that respects the dignity and preferences of the individual.
- Follow individualized care plans and communicate any changes or concerns to supervisors and care coordinators.
- Support social and recreational activities to promote engagement and community integration.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided in compliance with HCBS program requirements.
- Adhere to all applicable health, safety, and confidentiality regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in caregiving or related fields preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or special needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the NYC HCBS program guidelines and requirements is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow care plans and work independently.
- Reliable transportation to travel within New York City as needed.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet all regulatory requirements for HCBS providers.
