The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator leads the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of the facility’s environmental, health, and safety programs. This role ensures full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards (including OSHA, EPA, and applicable requirements), while safeguarding employees, the environment, and company assets. The EHS Coordinator administers core safety processes, delivers training, conducts incident investigations, and partners with site leaders to strengthen a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture across all operations.
Job Responsibilities Policy & Program Development- Evaluate, update, and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, GMP and company standards.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing and executing initiatives that strengthen workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
- Partner with site leadership to build, reinforce, and sustain a strong safety culture across the organization.
- Plan, schedule, and deliver safety and GMP orientation for all employees.
- Identify needs and develop additional training programs to increase awareness and promote safe work practices.
- Coordinate and administer annual refresher training (e.g., lockout/tagout, chemical handling, PPE, first aid, CPR).
- Facilitate clear, engaging training sessions that equip employees and supervisors to work safely and confidently.
- Maintain required EHS records and documentation, including OSHA logs, internal incident/TIR reports, and audit files.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous waste regulations, including proper storage, labeling, handling, and disposal.
- Review and approve Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for new materials and supplies to evaluate hazards and controls.
- Monitor regulatory updates and proactively revise internal policies and programs as requirements change.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual) of facilities, processes, and equipment.
- Perform unannounced safety walk-throughs, engaging employees to surface concerns and reinforce safe behaviors.
- Identify hazards, recommend controls, and collaborate with management to implement and verify corrective actions.
- Lead incident response and investigations, including reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
- Document findings, communicate outcomes to leadership, and ensure follow-through to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate emergency response plans, drills, and related training, including first aid/CPR support.
- Serve as an on-site resource during emergencies, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Coordinate and facilitate Health & Safety Committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda development, and meeting leadership.
- Escalate trends, risks, and improvement opportunities to senior management to support continuous improvement.
- Promote recognition efforts that celebrate employee contributions to improved safety and health performance.
- Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), SOPs, and other safety documentation in partnership with Quality and Operations.
- Provide technical writing support for compliance reports, safety programs, and audit responses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline preferred;
Associate’s degree with substantial EHS experience will be considered. - Professional certifications such as OSHA 30, ASP, CSP, and/or CHMM are strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Experience with chemical handling, hazardous waste management, and industrial hygiene concepts and controls.
- Solid understanding of GMP and regulated manufacturing requirements and standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiar with EHS management systems and reporting tools.
- 3–5 years of EHS coordination and/or safety management experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
