Position Summary

The Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring of patients in an acute care setting. This role requires accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms, prompt communication of abnormalities, and detailed documentation to support patient safety and quality care.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry systems for assigned patients.
  • Observe, interpret, and document cardiac waveforms, heart rhythms, and measurements.
  • Identify and promptly report cardiac rhythm changes or abnormalities to nursing staff and physicians.
  • Watch and read rhythm strips for heart anomalies with accuracy.
  • Maintain continuous patient observation to ensure safety.
  • Accurately document rhythm interpretations and patient data per facility protocol.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Ensure monitoring equipment is functioning properly and report malfunctions immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays, as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of total healthcare experience
  • Experience with:
  • Vital signs monitoring
  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring
  • Rhythm strip interpretation
  • Continuous observation
  • Documentation of cardiac activity
  • EKG Certification (required)
  • AHA BLS Certification (required)
  • High School Diploma or GED
Schedule Requirements
  • Must commit to assigned shift times and weekly hours as provided by the facility.
  • Must report as scheduled, including holidays.
