Outpatient Coding Manager-EPIC HB

Overview

The Coding Manager is responsible for leading hospital outpatient coding operations for Emergency Department, Observation, Infusion, and Same Day Surgery within Epic HB
. This fully remote role ensures accurate, compliant coding and charge capture while supporting revenue integrity, productivity, and denial reduction initiatives.

• Manage and mentor hospital outpatient coding staff in a remote environment.
• Oversee daily workflows, productivity, and quality for ED, Observation, Infusion, and Same Day Surgery.
• Monitor and manage Epic HB coding and charge review work queues

• Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, OPPS, NCCI, and payer guidelines.
• Support accurate coding of ED facility E/M, Observation services, Infusion/injections, and outpatient surgical procedures.
• Conduct audits, identify trends, and provide education and corrective action.
• Partner with Revenue Cycle, HIM, Compliance, and Epic teams to resolve issues and improve workflows.
• Monitor KPIs including accuracy, DNFB, charge lag, and denial trends.

• 5+ years of hospital outpatient coding experience.
• 2+ years of coding leadership or supervisory experience.
• Epic HB experience required

• Strong knowledge of ED, Observation, Infusion, and Outpatient Surgery coding.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers.

• RHIA or RHIT
• CCS or CCS-P
• CPC (hospital outpatient experience)

• Fully remote – HIPAA-compliant home workspace required
