The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end credentialing, privileging, and insurance enrollment processes for departmental providers. This role works closely with the Medical Staff Office, Office of Faculty Affairs, Managed Care, and hospital leadership to ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements are met accurately and on time.
This is a deadline-driven position that requires strong organization, follow-up, and ownership.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate initial and reappointment credentialing for providers
- Prepare and submit credentialing and privileging applications to the Medical Staff Office
- Track and manage Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care enrollments
- Monitor provider participation status and resolve enrollment issues
- Maintain accurate credentialing databases and tracking tools
- Ensure timely completion of OPPE and FPPE evaluations
- Track compliance with:
- Annual Health Assessments
- Hospital training requirements
- Organizational readiness
- Other institutional and regulatory mandates
- Proactively follow up on pending items and elevate when necessary
- Serve as a primary point of contact for providers regarding credentialing status
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple time-sensitive processes simultaneously.
This role requires someone who does not let items sit. If something is pending, it is tracked, followed up on, and moved forward.
Required Skills & Experience- Experience with provider credentialing and medical staff privileges
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care enrollments strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Excellent follow-up and deadline management skills
- Ability to manage high-volume workflows with accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter who works independently
- High sense of urgency and accountability
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced academic medical environment
- Strong organizational and tracking skills
