Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Office Assistant - Float Pool - Lake Success. In this role, the successful candidate provides the necessary and appropriate support to ensure effective and efficient patient care throughout the practice site by greeting, directing, and scheduling patients and visitors. Serves as a liaison between patients and clinical practice site personnel, and travels to other practice locations as required.
Job Responsibilities- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides the necessary and appropriate support to ensure effective and efficient practice; greets patients and visitors; answers and addresses all telephone communication, including prescription refills, authorization requests, patient questions, patient issues, referrals, scheduling changes and emergency appointments; maintains schedule to ensure no gaps in scheduling system; checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the patient’s medical record in computer;
responsible for daily confirmation of patient appointments with appropriate notations; takes messages accurately. - Acts as a liaison within the practice; maintains patient medical record system; files charts and coordinates lab work, physician reports, etc.; types correspondences as directed; sorts and delivers mail, medical records and other correspondences; ensures patient’s medical record is available for the physician.
- Assists patients and practice needs professionally and courteously; checks patients out when POS billing not available; contacts insurance carriers to obtain referrals and prior authorizations; assists and obtains referrals to specialty practices; screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information.
- Attends staff meetings as required by Practice Manager; interprets, adapts, and applies guidelines and procedures.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with patients, physicians and other staff members; handles constant interruption; understands patient needs and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Complies with all HIPAA guidelines, policies and procedures.
High School Diploma or GED required. Current and valid Driver’s license required. Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, multitasking, and customer service skills required. Basic math and computer skills required.
Required LicensesDriver’s License.
Preferred QualificationsAssociate’s Degree in a related field preferred. 6 months in a private physician practice preferred. 1‑2 years of health care experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of IDX preferred.

Salary TransparencySalary range: $56,873.24 – $56,873.25 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and hospital need. The range listed does not include bonuses or other compensation.
