Position Summary:
Many children and teens face barriers to quality health care due to geographical, financial, or other challenges. Located in twelve elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the Bronx and Queens, Urban Health Plan's school-based health program delivers essential services directly to students, breaking down barriers such as transportation, cost, and scheduling challenges. We are looking to hire a Health Educator who will be needed in our School Based Health Center located at James Monroe High School to educate our School Health patients on healthy eating, fitness, exercise education, reproductive health and education on their illness for example asthma and diabetes.
- Provide diverse health education in healthy eating, reproductive health care, and LGBTQ/OSCR trainings.
- Facilitate classroom presentations, parent and faculty workshops.
- Provide support with clinic enrollment aiming to increase visits.
- Provide support with opening charts, scanning documents and registering patients when needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Education and Promotion, Education, Public Health, Social Work, or related field of study.
- Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.
- 1-2 years of previous exposure to working in a community based organization, school setting, or youth programming is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to excellence and to providing quality service to patients.
Onsite, Bronx, NY, Monday - Friday 8 am–4:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
Starting CompensationMinimum: $45,560 annually;
Maximum: $45,560 annually
