Medical Biller

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for verifying the accuracy of billing forms, entering data into appropriate databases, and ensuring timely reimbursement. This role investigates billing inquiries, reviews supporting documentation, and prepares records for resolution. The specialist also communicates with patients and other parties to address account discrepancies, denials, and payment arrangements while ensuring compliance and confidentiality.

• Verify billing form accuracy and enter data into databases for reimbursement processing.
• Investigate billing inquiries, ensuring documentation completeness (CPT, ICD-9 coding, physician data, insurance coverage, TOA, etc.).
• Prepare documentation for account inquiry and resolution.
• Maintain an account inquiry database and generate reports/summaries as needed.
• Investigate denial causes and apply protocols for resolution.
• Communicate with patients and relevant parties regarding open accounts, incorrect information, and payment arrangements.

• 2–3 years of medical billing experience (Medicare, Medicaid, 3rd party reimbursement, ICD-9 & CPT coding).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Effective communication skills to interact with patients, staff, and physicians.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain professional under stress.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
• Accuracy in recording financial information.

• Accounting and/or financial reporting experience.
• Prior supervisory experience.

• Associate’s Degree (required).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (preferred).
