The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based, scientific, and clinical expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of the program. Key aspects of this role include engaging in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals to translate into meaningful insight while serving as a therapeutic expert. The role may also engage in peer‑peer scientific and health‑economic discussions with relevant healthcare decision makers (HCDMs) and influencers within U.S. public and private health care entities, including but not limited to managed care organizations (MCOs), specialty pharmacy providers (SPPs), pharmaceutical benefit managers (PBMs), integrated delivery networks (IDNs), designated centers, and other healthcare networks.

- Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers.
- Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
- Serve as the primary resource to address unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters.
- Identify, gather, and document field-generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
- Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
- Collaborate with field-based Medical colleagues, appropriate Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights in support of internal and external activities.
- Leverage knowledge of standards of care, company/investigator-sponsored clinical trials, and competitor landscape to facilitate external–internal research communication.
- Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of healthcare providers (HCPs), investigators, health care systems, academic medical centers, and treatment team members, integrating scientific data—including real‑world evidence—into real-life practice to meet customer needs.
- Deliver scientific presentations to formulary committees and key healthcare decision makers, communicating the health‑economic model and supporting clinical data, and serve as the primary field-based resource to address related questions.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in health‑economic model design and effectively communicate complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner to diverse HCDM audiences.
- Maintain deep knowledge of cost‑effectiveness models and budget impact models to support informed decision-making and value discussions.
- MD, PhD, Pharm
D, PA, NP, or equivalent degree highly preferred. - 2+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison required.
- Clinical or related practical experience in GI/Liver preferred.
- Strong scientific and clinical acumen.
- Ability to quickly understand and translate complex scientific data and realize its potential impact on clinical practice and research needs.
- Experience in Managed Care/ PBM, HEOR activities, or strong knowledge of P&T committee processes.
- Ability to travel up to 60%; overnight stays and weekends may be required; possess a valid driver’s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified.
