Position Summary
Joining our Dental Department, the Lead Central Sterile Processing Technician will join our fast-paced Bronx FQHC. The Sterilization Tech will maintain quality assurance standards, ensure approved infection control, and uphold dental department policy and procedure.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma required with Certificate required including:
Sterile Processing Technician;
Certified Registered Central Service Technician, CBSPD, or CS/SPD. - Minimum of 1-2 years of sterilization experience is required
- Familiarity with dental instruments is a plus.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a large team environment.
- Understanding strict adherence to infection control protocols and standards.
- Ability to mentor and train other sterilization technicians.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player
- Collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects, and sterilizes dental instruments/trays/packs.
- Sterilizes reusable dental instruments, devices, and equipment.
- Maintains logs and inventories. Re-stocks and distributes instruments and supplies as needed.
- Ensures effective transportation of instruments between pediatric and adult dental clinics.
- Monitors that contaminated instruments are handled safely and according to protocol.
- Maintains adequate levels of sterile supplies and instrument sets. Monitors sterilization equipment and reports malfunctions.
- Coordinates with providers and clinical teams to ensure instruments are available for patient care.
- Supports leadership with implementing infection control quality improvements.
- Informs leadership of delays, risks, or compliance issues.
- Ensures adherence to OSHA, CDC, and infection control standards.
$27.00 per hour based on 40 hours per week ($56,160 annualized).
Work Environment Type, Location, and ScheduleCandidates must be available to work onsite based in our Southern Boulevard Health Center. Candidates must have availability to work Tuesday through Saturday 8am-5pm/9am-6pm OR Monday through Friday 8am-5pm/9am-6pm with rotating Saturdays (and day off during week).
