Location: Manhasset

Overview

A first‑of‑its‑kind one‑year advanced Nephrology fellowship in Glomerular kidney diseases and Onco‑nephrology at Northwell Health Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Northwell Health’s Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Long Island, NY is now interviewing for the Galdi Fellowship in Onco‑Nephrology and Glomerular Diseases. The fellowship seeks to develop the next generation of international leaders in nephrology.

Responsibilities

Training in glomerular kidney diseases is provided at the prestigious Northwell Health Nephrology Center for Glomerular Diseases. Fellows develop expertise in managing complex glomerular disease cases in inpatient and outpatient settings, including a rotation at the Division of Rheumatology for intensive training in systemic lupus erythematosus and ANCA vasculitis. Fellows also participate in state‑of‑the‑art research in various forms of glomerular diseases and work with our kidney pathologists, who read over 600 kidney biopsies per year from across the New York region.

Onco‑nephrology is a rapidly developing sub‑field. Fellows gain expertise in a wide range of cancer‑related kidney diseases, working closely with inpatient and outpatient teams and faculty leaders. Fellows rotate with inpatient hematology and oncology teams and care for patients with multiple myeloma, renal cell cancer, and bone marrow transplantation.

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed U.S.–based internal medicine residency training and general nephrology fellowship, and must demonstrate a high level of performance and scientific potential. Candidates are evaluated on academic accomplishments, clinical training, and dedication to glomerular diseases and onco‑nephrology. Northwell Health is supportive of Visa candidates.

Program Year

The fellowship is available for the academic year 2027‑2028.
