SummaryProviding both emergency and non‑emergency transport of patients. EMTs and paramedics will collaborate with supervisors, Municipal and County Fire, Police departments, and other medical staff to deliver the highest level of patient care and customer service. Under the direction of the Operations Department, EMTs perform or assist with a wide variety of patient care activities in both pre‑hospital and hospital settings, providing supportive and definitive care in emergency settings and inter‑facility transportation.
Minimum Qualifications- Current New York State certification (EMT-B) and current CPR certification.
- A valid driver’s license meeting company requirements.
- Successful completion of all aspects of the pre‑employment process, including drug screening, background check, and physical agility (CPAT) test.
Works outdoors and indoors with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and blood/body fluids, requires respirator use, fumes/odors, extended day, and temperature changes. Frequently works with others and has face‑to‑face contact with exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and electrical equipment. Performs shift work and frequently works in a mobile and confined environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the scope of established treatment protocols and the current standard of care.
- Provide accurate and pertinent written documentation of all patient care and EMS responses.
- Complete all required Empress and NYS paperwork.
- Maintain all patient care equipment, vehicles, supplies, daily logs, and patient care records as directed by the company.
- Operate Empress vehicles and equipment as required, according to company policy.
- Maintain a safe and orderly work environment and promote safe work practices for all employees.
- Report to work on time and understand that shift may exceed the scheduled end time; mandatory overtime may be assigned.
- Be willing to work all available shifts as required.
- Follow all Empress policies and procedures.
- Attend mandatory continuing medical education, updates, and staff meetings as required by Empress.
- Comply with guidelines for uniform dress and standard equipment regulations.
- Assist in providing public information and educational programs that promote EMTs and services offered by Empress to the community and allied EMS agencies.
Requires frequent use of hands to handle or sense, reach with hands and arms, speaking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stepping, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must lift/carry up to 150 lb unassisted and up to 300 lb as part of a two‑person crew. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
