Spear Physical and Occupational Therapy is excited to welcome motivated occupational (OT) and physical therapists (PT) who are passionate about pursuing a career in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. This role is ideal for therapists who have developed a solid foundation in hand therapy during their clinical education and are eager to build on that experience with mentorship, advanced training, and hands‑on practice.

Therapists are responsible for setting clear expectations for patients’ clinical progress while providing evidence‑based, patient‑centered care for individuals with conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. They must maintain a high standard of clinical excellence and 5‑star customer service, fostering a community environment that supports patients and team members alike.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and progress individualized treatment plans including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, custom orthotic fabrication, and patient education.
  • Empower patients with home programs and strategies that support their functional goals and recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with referring physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure exceptional outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Hold a license (or be license eligible) to practice Occupational or Physical Therapy in the State of New York.
  • Completed Level II fieldwork placement or outpatient rotation in hand therapy or equivalent experience during clinical education.
  • If transitioning from another practice area, demonstrate a commitment to hand therapy through continuing education coursework or certifications in upper extremity rehabilitation.
  • Excited about working toward becoming a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) with support of a collaborative team.
  • Masters or Doctorate of Occupational Therapy degree.
Who We Are Looking For
  • We value empathy and a dedication to clinical excellence above all else.
  • Whether you are an entrepreneurial big‑thinker or dedicated to day‑to‑day treatment, successful candidates will understand that being clear is kind and that actions express priorities.
  • Passion for the field of physical and occupational therapy.
  • Proactive, collaborative, team‑oriented attitude because we don’t work in silos.
  • Commitment to and hunger for continued learning.
  • Dedication to not only rehabilitating patients’ injuries but their confidence and vitality.
  • Sense of accomplishment from pairing clinical excellence with emotional intelligence.
  • A resonance with our SPEAR‑IT values:
Service, Passion, Empathy, Accountability, Respect, Impact, Teamwork.
  • Celebrate wins and learn from losses with patients, colleagues, and surrounding communities.
What We Offer
  • Mentorship Programs and Spear's award‑winning Future Leaders Program (SFLP).
  • $1,400/year Continuing Education Stipend; in‑house CEU opportunities; monthly manual therapy workshops; physician shadowing and lectures.
  • Student Loan Repayment Program.
  • One Medical paid membership.
  • Mental health benefits that include paid time off and support services.
Physical Demand
  • Requires manual dexterity and general strength and endurance.
  • Lifting: routinely loads of 5‑35 lbs. from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, shoulder to overhead.
  • Carrying: routinely loads of 5‑10 lbs for 40‑50 ft.
  • Pushing: routinely loads of 5‑150 lbs on casters, runners or pulleys.
  • Sustaining a grip: routinely for 1‑2 minutes of 40‑50 lbs.
  • Guarding a lift load routinely of 120‑140 lbs.

Salary range: $85,000–$120,000 a year, inclusive of incentives.
