Compensation: $60/hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day Shift
TAG Med Staffing is hiring a Physical Therapist (School-Based) in New York, NY for our client, supporting students with physical therapy needs across school-based special education programs. This role will provide evaluations, direct therapy services, mobility support, and treatment planning for students with individualized education programs (IEPs) while collaborating closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams. The position offers the opportunity to work within a student-centered environment focused on improving mobility, functional movement, and participation in school activities.
Responsibilitiesas the Physical Therapist (School-Based)
- Evaluations & Assessments: Conduct physical therapy evaluations and re-evaluations focused on gross motor development, balance, strength, gait, coordination, and functional mobility.
- Therapy Services: Provide direct individual and group physical therapy sessions aligned with student IEP goals and functional needs.
- Mobility Support: Assess and recommend adaptive equipment, mobility devices, wheelchair positioning, and accessibility modifications.

Collaboration:
Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers regarding student progress and therapy recommendations. - Documentation: Maintain timely and accurate documentation, progress reports, and service records within required electronic systems.
- Staff & Family Training: Educate school staff and caregivers on positioning techniques, mobility strategies, adaptive equipment, and student support needs.
- Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required.
- Licensure: Current New York State Physical Therapy license is required.
- Certification: Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of pediatric physical therapy experience is required, while school-based experience is preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with IEP services, adaptive equipment, mobility training, and school-based therapy practices is preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, documentation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary educational environments are required.
