Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Nutritionist. In this role, the successful candidate supports the NYU Langone Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Health and the Center for the Prevention Cardiovascular Disease, providing counseling for diet and lifestyle improvement including individualized nutrition and diabetes self‑management education and training to patients, and nutrition therapy for cardiac and cardiometabolic health.
Job Responsibilities- Participates in clinical co‑management of diabetes and cardiac patients with FGP physicians and other care providers, including assessment, education and appropriate therapeutic interventions and recommendations. This includes making appropriate modifications of diabetes medical regimens based on critical assessment of patient clinical factors, blood glucose data, lipid levels, and/or blood pressure. Patients may be on subcutaneous insulin pump therapy or undergoing assessment with continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
- Offers nutritional support for cardiac and diabetic patients that will try to improve their lipid profile, understanding the interplay of dietary fats and carbohydrat.es.
- Supports cardiac and diabetic patients to help them attain an optimal body weight (BMI).
- Supports FGP practice diabetes and cardiac patients through appropriate interventions and education to achieve all identified treatment goals.
- Engages in regular ongoing critical examination of diabetes educator practice and professional performance and makes recommendations to maintain highest level of care and operations possible. Completes all required documents necessary for appropriate diabetes patient care.
To qualify you must have a Bachelor Degree in Nutrition. One‑two years of experience as a Registered Dietitian. Background in diabetes / cardiovascular nutrition / education. Specific skills should include clinical competence in the following: use of oral agents, insulin, and other injectables such as GLP‑1 agonists (e.g. exenatide), and pramlintide to manage diabetic patients, clinical management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, lipids, and hypertension.
Familiarity with all aspects related to education and successful use of chronic subcutaneous insulin pumps and use and interpretation of continuous glucose monitors and sensors. Familiarity with management and modification of diabetic regimens based on glycemic control and specified targets identified in the care plan. Familiarity with the cholesterol treatment guidelines and the medical and nutritional support that will be needed for individual patients to achieve the optimal lipid status.

Preferred QualificationsCertified Diabetes Educator by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educator. Master’s degree. Patient education with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes patients, patients in insulin pumps, CGMs experience preferred.

Salary RangeThe salary range for the role is $83,944.35 - $89,250.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
