About Reach for the Stars Learning Center
Reach for the Stars Learning Center is a private school that services children with autism. The center was founded on the belief that children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders can live full and productive lives as integrated members of the community. Recognizing that each child presents his or her own unique strengths and challenges, Reach for the Stars champions a multi-disciplinary approach rather than relying on one strict modality.
This integrated model begins with a strong foundation in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and the teaching philosophy integrates speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, behavioral skills and social skills training under the umbrella of ABA. The utilization of this collaborative model facilitates the educational practices and behavioral treatments that have proven effective in educating students with disabilities. The primary goal of RFTS is to help each student progress to the point at which they can thrive in less restrictive educational and community settings.
Qualifications
- Experience with AAC, PECS, Oral Sensory-Motor, and/or feeding is preferred.
- CCC – SLPs are preferred, but strong CFY candidates are considered.
- Knowledge and experience with ABA, behavioral strategies, play therapy and the treatment of children with autism, specifically, is a plus.
