Patient Care Assistant (FGP) - Brooklyn, Pulm + Sleep Med.
In this role, the successful candidate assists the RN/LPN in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks and serves as go‑to for other PCAs. Provides competent, safe, and compassionate care with emphasis on an understanding of the challenges faced by hospitalization, undergoing procedures or diagnostic tests. Demonstrates NYU Langone Health Core Values in all aspects of job performance.
Job Responsibilities- Assists in emergencies as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Completes delegated responsibilities as directed by the nursing staff or MDs.
- Observes general behavior and reports to nursing staff to whom patient is assigned.
- Assists in data collection and activities as assigned.
- Assists in maintaining safety and comfort needs of patients.
- Utilizes specialized skills and safety when carrying out specific tasks of patient care as assigned, including phlebotomy, finger sticks for glucose, and electrocardiograms.
- Demonstrates understanding of infection prevention and control standards.
- Schedules follow‑up for surgical patients.
- In‑basket and work‑queue maintenance.
- High Level Disinfection trainings.
High school graduate or equivalent required. Working knowledge of English evident in verbal, reading, and writing abilities; other language an asset; demonstrates ability in computer skills; proficiency in venipuncture and phlebotomy required. Minimum of three years of experience.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Preferred QualificationsEKG and/or Spirometry experience.

SalarySalary range for the role is $58,542.75 - $58,542.75 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range does not include bonuses or incentives.
