X-Ray Tech-Float Position Highlights
PT Time: 24 Hours/Week.
Hours:
Varied;
Monday-Friday shifts range from 7:00am-8:00pm. Rotating weekend coverage occurs every 5th weekend Saturday and Sunday 8:00am-4:00pm. Holidays and travel as needed. Locations:
Glen Ellyn, Bloomingdale, Lombard, Schaumburg.

- Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by a Radiologist.
- Position the patient on the examining table and adjust immobilization devices to obtain an optimum view of specific areas of the body requested by a physician.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Move x‑ray equipment into specified positions and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Obtain patient’s pertinent history.
- Maintain the crash cart.
- Maintain and stock inventory.
- Maintain OSHA regulations.
- Perform other projects and duties related to departmental objectives.
- Work as a team player, accept constructive criticism from supervisors, and follow work rules.
- Report to the lead technologist for work assignments.
- Assist with film quality control.
- Work evenings and holidays with responsibility for the operation of the department.
- Assist and relieve the manager by expediting patient workflow through the department.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be AART registered or eligible and licensed by IDNS.
- CPR certification.
- Experience:
6 months to 2 years of related experience.
- Base pay range: $28.84–$38.90 per hour, determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
- Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives.
- Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
