Lifeline Center for Child Development is a specialized psychiatric day treatment program serving children in grades K–12 on a green, campus-like setting in Queens Village, NY. The Center hosts a District 75 School on site, enabling students to receive individualized clinical services while continuing their education in a supportive environment. A multidisciplinary team of trained clinical professionals collaborates closely to address each child’s emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.

Role Description

The Therapist (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC) is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Queens County, NY, providing therapeutic services to children enrolled in the psychiatric day treatment program. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting individual and group therapy sessions; completing psychosocial assessments; and developing treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The therapist will monitor progress, maintain accurate and timely documentation, and participate in case conferences, clinical meetings, and coordination with school staff.

The role also involves providing crisis intervention, supporting behavior management plans, and engaging caregivers to promote continuity of care and positive outcomes for each child.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in Social Work practice, including assessment, intervention, and advocacy for children and families.
  • Strong foundation in Psychology and child development, with the ability to apply clinical theory to real‑world school‑based and day treatment settings.
  • Experience working with Mental Health conditions in children and adolescents, including providing therapeutic interventions in high‑need environments.
  • Skilled in Case Management, including care coordination, referrals to community resources, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Family Therapy approaches, engaging caregivers and guardians to support treatment goals and improve family functioning.
  • Current New York State license or limited permit as LCSW, LMSW, Psy.

    D. or LMHC; eligibility to practice independently or under supervision as required.
  • Prior experience in school‑based programs, psychiatric day treatment, or child/adolescent mental health settings strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills, with the ability to manage a clinical caseload effectively.
  • Commitment to trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, and gender‑neutral care within a diverse community.
