Paramedic

Paramedics at Centralus Health Ambulance (CHT) play a vital role in advancing our mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate emergency medical care and transport services that strengthen the well‑being of our communities. Paramedics provide advanced life support (ALS), comprehensive patient assessment, clinical decision‑making, and emergency care under medical direction. Paramedics may also assist with interfacility and critical care transports, community paramedicine initiatives, and disaster response operations as directed.

Job Summary

This position is physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding, requiring advanced clinical judgment, resilience, and a strong commitment to patient care. Paramedics must meet established functional standards and maintain readiness to respond to emergencies with competence and composure while managing complex medical and traumatic conditions.

Job Functions
  • Uphold Mission and Values: Support and embody Centralus Health System and Centralus Health Ambulance's mission, vision, core values, and strategic goals in all duties and interactions.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Prioritize safety at all times, adhering to organizational policies, procedures, traffic laws, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Deliver Quality Patient Care: Respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls, assess and treat patients according to BLS protocols, and provide compassionate, high‑quality care.
  • Communicate and Collaborate: Maintain clear, professional communication with dispatch, coworkers, other responders, and receiving facilities to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Document and Maintain Readiness: Complete accurate and timely patient care documentation; maintain ambulance, equipment, and station readiness, including restocking and infection control.
  • Demonstrate Professional Accountability: Take responsibility for decisions and actions, perform assigned tasks to high standards, and promote transparency and continuous improvement.

    Education / Experience Qualifications

    Required:

    • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED or similar)
    • Valid New York State Paramedic certification
