The Department of Hearing and Speech at Weill Cornell Medicine is pleased to announce openings for five fourth-year Doctor of Audiology externship positions in New York City.
Externs will gain comprehensive clinical experience across a wide range of specialty audiology services within a fast-paced academic medical center. Clinical training serves diverse patient populations from pediatric through geriatric care.
Clinical Opportunities:Audiology experiences may include:
- Comprehensive diagnostic audiology
- Pediatric and adult hearing evaluations
- Auditory evoked potentials
- Newborn hearing screening
- Cochlear implant evaluation and mapping
- Hearing aid evaluation and dispensing
- Bone anchored hearing devices
- Vestibular evaluation and rehabilitation
- Tinnitus evaluation and management
- Auditory processing evaluations
- Aural rehabilitation and habilitation
- Educational audiology
- Assistive technology
- Hearing conservation
- Community outreach
- Research opportunities
- Practice management
- Onsite continuing education opportunities

May or June 2027 - Expected hours/days a week: 9 hrs a day / 5 days
- Travel to satellite centers required? Yes
- Conduct appropriate comprehensive behavioral and objective audiological evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
- Perform hearing device evaluations, programming, fitting, repair and follow-up for patient's with hearing aids, FM systems, bone conduction devices and/or CROS systems
- Conduct vestibular assessments
- Counsel and educate patients and their families on hearing loss, communication strategies, the use of hearing devices, etc
- Evaluate potential cochlear implant recipients
- Perform routine cochlear implant mapping and troubleshooting
- Evaluate cochlear implant outcomes
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Regularly Hearing Screenings
- Everyday Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler
- Everyday Pediatric evaluations: school-age
- Everyday Adult hearing evaluations
- Everyday Tympanometry
- Everyday Acoustic Reflexes
- Regularly Auditory processing evaluations
- Regularly Hearing Screenings
- Regularly Evoked potential assessments
- Regularly Intra-operative monitoring cases
- Everyday Otoacoustic emissions
- Regularly Industrial/hearing conservation
- Regularly Vestibular assessments
- Never Vestibular rehabilitation
- Everyday Hearing aids dispensed
- Everyday Hearing aid selection/fitting
- Everyday Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized)
- Regularly Cochlear implant evaluations
- Everyday Cochlear implant rehabilitation
- Regularly Tinnitus assessments
