Job Summary The role of MPA is an administrative all-encompassing position that is comprised of workflows that adapt based on the needs of the practice. This position will greet patients upon arrival and ensure patients are seen by the provider accordingly. This medical office assistant will answer the phone and direct individuals to the appropriate channel as needed. In addition, this role will coordinate the provider's schedule to ensure patients are seen appropriately for their appointments, referrals and follow up appointments.
This MPA will verify insurance and collect payments and ensure payments are accurately recorded. In addition, this role may obtain prior authorizations for all medications, durable medical equipment, procedures, and diagnostic tests for all patients, including workers compensation and commercial payers. The MPA may coordinate surgical scheduling. In this role, the MPA will work with their supervisor and peers to ensure patient and customer satisfaction is delivered to create a best-in-class experience across the site(s).T
his position requires flexibility to support multiple practice locations based on staffing and operational needs. Associates may be required to provide coverage at any practice location. Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel between assigned locations is required.
Essential Functions Ensure the front desk is neat, presentable, and equipped with all the necessary supplies such as pens, forms, and paper ADAGreet patients professionally both in person and on the phone ADA Facilitates correspondence with customers, patients, and colleagues to ensure satisfaction and patient care ADA Confirmation of provider name, appointment time, pre-visit e-forms and any screening questions. ADAWorks collaboratively with other staff, managers, and resources ADA Schedule surgical procedures and explain patient financial responsibilities.
ADAAnswer and redirect phone calls to the appropriate department and take down messages. ADAManage and coordinate provider schedules, referrals and follow up appointments ADAObtain prior authorizations for all medications, durable medical equipment, and diagnostic test for all workers compensation and commercial payers. ADAVerify financial records and insurance, collect patient charges, and confirm patient identification upon arrival. ADAPre-authorization of patient services and procedures via insurance.
ADANotify providers and support staff of patient arrivals. ADA Facilitation of referral process for additional specialty procedures and/or tests. ADA Creation, cancelation and reschedule of patient appointments. ADAPre-authorization of patient services and procedures via insurance. (Tier dependent) ADA Coordination of surgical scheduling. (Tier dependent) ADA Ability to understand and apply workflows and job aids as indicated. ADA Knowledge and application of HIPAA and security laws.
ADA Maintain flexibility with scheduled work hours, including varying shifts between the operational hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, based on departmental needs.
Provide cross-site coverage at other practice locations as assigned to meet operational and staffing needs
Demonstrate accountability by accurately documenting all patient interactions, scheduling activities, referrals, authorizations, and communications within the electronic medical record.
Monitor assigned Epic work queues, in-baskets, CRM pools, and other electronic workflows to ensure timely completion of assigned work.
