Role Description

The Psychotherapist for Children in Private Practice will provide individual psychotherapy to children and adolescents in an on-site setting in Brooklyn, NY. This part-time role includes conducting intakes, developing treatment plans, offering ongoing therapeutic interventions, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The psychotherapist will communicate regularly with caregivers, collaborate with other providers when appropriate, and support children with a range of emotional, behavioral, and relational concerns.

Responsibilities also include participating in case consultation, upholding ethical and legal standards, and contributing to a welcoming, inclusive practice environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Psychology and Mental Health, with experience applying clinical concepts to child and adolescent populations.
  • Demonstrated skills in Counseling, including work with children and their caregivers or families.
  • Basic understanding of Medicine as it relates to mental health (e.g., coordination with prescribers and awareness of psychopharmacology) is beneficial.
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field; current clinical license or license-eligible status in New York State (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, Psychologist).
  • Experience providing psychotherapy to children and adolescents in outpatient or private practice settings.
  • Ability to maintain clear, timely clinical notes and manage a part-time caseload professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to culturally responsive, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory care.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Brooklyn, NY during agreed-upon hours and to participate in supervision or consultation as needed.
