Histology & Lab Operations Technician – Cell Therapy and Neurodegeneration The Company

Mangrove Neuro (LIC, NY) is a well-funded, fast-paced, early-stage biotech company using cell and tissue replacement therapies to treat neurodegeneration and brain trauma. We use a multifaceted approach to designing and testing our prototypes. As an early-stage team member, your data will directly drive our upcoming IND-enabling milestones

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly adaptable Histology & Lab Operations Technician to manage tissue processing, slide preparation, and general laboratory maintenance for our preclinical neural graft studies. You will handle brain tissue specimens, execute histological assays, oversee vivarium maintenance, and manage ordering and organization to keep our operations running seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Histology & Analysis
    :
    Perfuse rodents, embed, section (frozen and paraffin), and stain rodent and human brain tissue samples. Perform immunohistochemistry and image tissue using epifluorescence and confocal microscopy.
  • General Lab Maintenance & Organization
    :
    Maintain stock levels, track inventory, and manage procurement and ordering for lab supplies, reagents, and consumables. Ensure general lab workspace cleanliness, safety compliance, and organized storage system maintenance.
  • Vivarium Maintenance
    :
    Oversee vivarium operations, including breeding and ordering, tracking animal housing/breeding logs, coordinating with veterinary staff, and modify IACUC protocols as needed, and ensuring compliance with institutional IACUC standards.
Qualifications Required
  • BS/AS in Histology, Biology, Bioengineering, or related field with 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cryosectioning and tissue staining techniques.

    Familiarity with optimizing immunohistochemistry protocols and titrating antibodies.
  • Experience with general lab operations, inventory management/ordering, and basic vivarium maintenance protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team setting.
Preferred
  • Prior experience with human fetal brain tissue and/or rodent brain tissue processing.
  • Experience supporting preclinical research or cell therapy pipelines.

Compensation: $75,000 – 100,000 based on experience with competitive health insurance and equity.
