Role Overview:
The Patient Care Associate (PCA) provides support under the supervision of licensed nursing staff in a healthcare setting, assisting with patient care, clinical duties, and unit maintenance. The role involves performing vital signs, administering testing such as HIV and EKGs, facilitating telehealth, assisting with ADLs, transferring patients, and maintaining electronic medical records. PCAs also observe patients' physical and mental conditions, report changes, and ensure a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate telehealth encounters and perform HIV testing and counseling
- Assist with patient hygiene, transfers, positioning, and feeding
- Document vital signs, perform EKGs, and maintain accurate records
- Perform clinical tasks like veni-puncture, urine testing, and quality controls
- Maintain cleanliness, stock supplies, and ensure unit safety
- Observe and report patient conditions and assist with admissions and transfers
- High school diploma or GED
- Certificates in EKG, Phlebotomy, PCA/PCT/CNA, Infection Control
- BCLS certification; HIV counseling training preferred
- Computer proficiency and strong interpersonal skills
Working Conditions:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in environments with exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases. The role involves working various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, at multiple locations.
