** We are seeking a
** Genetic Counselor*
* ** Associate
* * to join our Clinical Genetics team.
Our multidisciplinary team of genetic counselors, physicians, and researchers partner across MSK to provide personalized, evidence-based care for individuals and families seeking to better understand their inherited cancer risk. As an Associate Genetic Counselor, you will play an integral role in guiding patients through risk assessment, genetic testing, and personalized screening and prevention strategies while contributing to innovative clinical research and the continued advancement of genomic medicine.
** Role Overview:
*** Conduct case preparation by reviewing medical records, researching relevant literature, collecting detailed personal and family histories, and developing three-generation pedigrees.
* Provide genetic counseling, communicate individualized risk assessments, and educate patients on screening, prevention, and risk-reduction options.
* Coordinate genetic testing, including informed consent, insurance pre-authorization, sample collection, and result tracking.
* Interpret and communicate results, answer patient questions, and develop follow-up care plans.
* Identify eligible patients for clinical research studies and support enrollment in IRB-approved research protocols.
* Document patient encounters, genetic test results, and risk assessments accurately and in a timely manner.
* Participate in service operations, including counselor on-call rotations, multidisciplinary collaboration, and departmental meetings.
* Maintain professional expertise through continuing education, conferences, and board certification activities.
** Key
Qualifications:
*** Master's degree in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling.
* Board Eligible or Board Certified in Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
* Relevant genetic counseling internships or work experience, including exposure to cancer genetics.
* Knowledge of cancer predisposition syndromes, genetic testing technologies, and evidence-based risk management guidelines.
* Experience with electronic medical records, clinical databases, and other healthcare technology is preferred.

*** Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex genetic information clearly and compassionately.
* Good analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate family histories, interpret genetic information, and develop risk assessments.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
* Good interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
* Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and supporting informed decision-making.

Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm. Flexibility may be required based on patient schedules.

E. 70th Street. Hybrid schedule, 3-4 days onsite/week.
